Assignments

His first assignment was in the Jagst River Valley in the city of Ellwangen, Germany with Elder Middleton. After he broke his leg and ankle on July 18th he was hospitalized for 10 days and then he returned home to recover. He served one transfer in the Albuquerque NM Mission from January 4 - February 15, 2010 and served on the Navajo Reservation with Elder Lee.

He returned to Zurich on February 16, 2010. His first assignment was to serve with Elder King in Offenburg, Germany. The city is located in the Kinzig River Valley and adjacent to the Black Forest. The nearest large town is Strasbourg, France. He then served in a companionship with Elders Baird and Vaniturt in Offenburg.
On June 24th he was called to serve in Heilbronn with Elder Aeschbacher, who is from Switzerland. He is excited to serve with a native German speaker and hopes this will help him improve his language skills. On August 18, 2010 he was transferred to the city of Tubingen and called to be a companion with Elder Mildon.

In Stuggart Today and Getting to See Previous Companions!

So 1 more week down... or gone I'm not sure. We didn't get a lot of really anything huge done this week which I must admit makes me pretty irritated. On Monday we were able to help one of our members move some stuff and got to do some doors but not a ton. On Tuesday we had our first district meeting with the new couple in our district which now means we have 3 companionships or 6 people in our district, whoo hoo!
They both gave a spiritual thought and introduced themselves. They are from Cashe Valley Utah.  As far as older people go they are pretty awesome. Not to say that older people suck but you got to admit that sometimes there are just some way cool old people who seem like they will make cookies or something as opposed to the crazy old people who yell out their windows (we have 2 that live right next to us). I can't even understand what one of the dudes wants exactly, he kind of just murmurs about non-sense and yells at cats out his window.
Well after district meeting the Longhursts (the new senior couple) went with us to eat lunch. Neither one of them had ever had a döner before so we took them to a place. Sister Longhurst met a young guy named Tim that is from Philadalphia and invited him over to our table. He sat right next to me and had a ton of questions so we just taught him the first lesson and gave him a Book of Mormon in German since he is trying really hard to learn German. We told him about the young single adults having sport every Tuesday and invited him to it. He gave us all his info and got all of ours and got directions to the church. He didn't end up coming to it that night but he did call us to explain that he was going to call home that night and so he would try next week and that the missionaries from Freiburg could come over and he would get to know them and ask them any more questions he had.
On Wednesday we went to Kehl: our city that touches France and met a less active lady and tried this African lady that had told us to come by again on Sunday at 12. Thursday we got to try doors for a little bit and then meet an investigator named Derek who took us back to his house and we watched a short movie (church movie) with him. He told us he would be cool with meeting us twice a week or so just to call him when we had time. On Friday went to Freiburg actually to meet an investigator who had just moved out of Offenburg and into Freiburg. She wanted to take us to a restaurant. I didn't really want to go but Elder King didn't mind and so she bought him some food and we talked.  It wasn't about gospel stuff so not a really productive meeting though. We didn't really have much time for anything else that day so we ended up going back home.
I honestly do not know what we did on Saturday I don't have my planner by me and I can just not remember what happened.... Oh well if it's interesting I'll write it next week. Actually I do remember that we went to a fireside at around 6 that was run by the Patirach of the area. Other than that nothing though.
On Sunday Elder King gave a pretty good talk about desires of our hearts. After church we had to pick up a young single adult coming from Freiburg to meet with the Patriarch. After that we were about 2 hours late for our appointment with the lady that had asked us to come back but we tried anyways. She told us she didn't have time anymore but we can try this up coming Thursday at around 12. So hopefully that works out.
I know that it might now have been the best week but I am still really excited for this next week and hope it proves to be a little better. We are in Stuttgart today. I'm going to meet up with Blomquist, Hart, Anderson, and Middleton today so that should be cool.  We will stay here till probably about 6 and then go back to Offenburg. We just rode up this morning and will take a train back. We will probably go to Europa Park next week.  It is like a theme park kind of but more with some roller coasters and some historic sites and food places.  I am going to take out 50 euro for that.
Oh yeah i took out some to buy a german medal and small book that is like a register where officers were in this camp and stuff on what date. The medal is called a mutterkreuz and was given to moms that had three kids lol its bronze, silver is for 5 kids and gold is for 8 kids or more. The weather has been beyond cold but it is starting to warm up a bit now and so hopefully that will go well.
Love to all of you,  Elder Hargett
