Assignments

His first assignment was in the Jagst River Valley in the city of Ellwangen, Germany with Elder Middleton. After he broke his leg and ankle on July 18th he was hospitalized for 10 days and then he returned home to recover. He served one transfer in the Albuquerque NM Mission from January 4 - February 15, 2010 and served on the Navajo Reservation with Elder Lee.

He returned to Zurich on February 16, 2010. His first assignment was to serve with Elder King in Offenburg, Germany. The city is located in the Kinzig River Valley and adjacent to the Black Forest. The nearest large town is Strasbourg, France. He then served in a companionship with Elders Baird and Vaniturt in Offenburg.
On June 24th he was called to serve in Heilbronn with Elder Aeschbacher, who is from Switzerland. He is excited to serve with a native German speaker and hopes this will help him improve his language skills. On August 18, 2010 he was transferred to the city of Tubingen and called to be a companion with Elder Mildon.

Lots of Finding and Appointments Set - Awesome Week!

Hey well this was a good week. On Monday we got to go to Freiburg and hang out with Elders Owen and  Griffes. We pretty much just did nothing but sit around playing monopoly and eating. On Tuesday we got to have district meeting in Freiburg with all 8 of us. We had an appointment so district meeting had to be cut a little short and so we each just gave a quick thought and then Elder Vanuitert and I made our way to our appointment. The lady ended up not being there and so we just went around and tried visiting some other people in the area. Not a whole lot happened and we ended up going back to Freiburg to meet up with Tim, an investigator for the Freiburg elders that Elder King and I had found and handed over.
It was the Tuesday right after conference so Tim had a ton of questions since he had watched the whole thing at the church. He asked about what we believe exactly is a prophet and all that good stuff. Elder Griffes and I were the ones teaching him, since we did an exchange, and we got to answer a ton of his questions and now he is even that much more excited for his baptism.
On Wednesday Elder Vanuitert and I went to meet with a less active member that the ward seems to ingnore. When I called him up he was so excited someone from church called him, he just canceled what he was doing so that he could meet with us. We ended up going hiking with him and giving him a blessing for the sick. I don't know why more missionaries havn't met with him before, he is an extremely cool guy.
On thursday Elder Vanuitert and I went to Lahr, which is a city a little south of us. We went with Elder Baird and Elder Greive, the other two in Offenburg, to meet with our ward mission leader. We had lunch with them and asked them to pray for an area that we could go to find people. They told us an area near them and we told them we would go there on Saturday and try the area and to pray for us.
After that Elder Vanuitert and I went to visit another less-active named Sister Losat. She gave us apples and cookies and we commited her to read in the book of Mosiah before next week. On Friday we had weekly planning so that took up most our day but we did get to try an area called Orshweier, even though no one there had any interest.
On Saturday we went to Lahr early and had lunch then prayed and did an exchange where i was with Elder Greive and Elder Baird with Elder Vanuitert. Elder Grieve and I found three people we set appointments up with for next week and met with a 20 year old that we gave the first lesson to and gave him a Book of Mormon. Elder Baird and Vanuitert got 10 addresses that said we could come back and try again. All in two hours!!! That was the area the member had told us to try and we had prayed about. It was way awesome. Later we all went to try by our branch presidents house. He wasn't there but his less-active son was and we set up an appointment to play basketball with him another less active and a few investigators Elder Baird and Grieve met. So we are having that on Tuesday.
But after that Elder Vanuitert and I went by a less active we hadn't met before and he was there and talked to us for two hours. On Sunday I had my talk ready since I was the missionary who was up to give a talk. But since the other three were new they asked them to give talks instead and that I shouldn't. So I didn't. Sister Benz, a less active Elder Baird and Greive had met, came to church with her daughter and everyone welcomed her back. That was very nice.
After that Elder Vanuitert and I stayed home the rest of the day because I was having some stomach problems so we learned how to play the German version of Catan. Now it is yet again Monday and we are here in Freiburg again. Well this last week was pretty nice and I am way excited for this upcoming week and the appointments we have to teach. Hope everything stays good by all of you.
Love you
Elder Hargett
